Kathryn E. Noll

Kathryn E. Noll is a partner at Sunstein. Kate has extensive experience in patent and trademark preparation and prosecution matters, product clearance, and intellectual property litigation.  Kate’s experience includes counseling clients with respect to their intellectual property in a wide array of technologies, including microelectromechanical systems (MEMS), optical systems, mechanical and medical devices, metallurgy, and semiconductor devices and processes, both in the U.S. and abroad.

Experience

  • Kate has served as in-house counsel to an automatic test equipment manufacturing company.
  • Before becoming an attorney, Kate worked for over ten years as a research engineer designing and conducting studies primarily in the metallurgical and semiconductor fields.

  • Kate is a member of the American Bar Association, the Massachusetts Bar Association, the Women’s Bar Association, the Boston Patent Law Association and the American Intellectual Property Law Association.

  • Kate has been admitted to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts.

Honors

  • Selected as a 2011 “Top Women of the Law” honoree by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly.
  • Kate was named to the Rising Stars list in the practice area of intellectual property from 2008-2010 in New England, a list limited to 2.5% of the outstanding emerging lawyers in the state who are age 40 and under, or have been practicing 10 years or less. The attorneys featured in Rising Stars were selected by their peers in an extensive nomination and polling process conducted by the research team at Super Lawyers, a service of Thomson Reuters and seen in a special advertising section in Bostonmagazine.
